April 2, 1956 – May 12, 2015 Mr. Cecil Earl Chatman, retired Chief Warrant Officer, United States Army, died of natural causes on May 12, 2015 in El Paso, Texas. He was formerly of Moss Point, Mississippi.

Cecil was born to James and Hattie Lee Moore Chatman on April 2, 1956 in Moss Point, Mississippi. He was a 1974 graduate of Moss Point High School. He received an Associates degree in Marketing from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in 1987. He later received a Bachelor of Science degree in 2004, while serving in the United States Army, from Parks University in El Paso, Texas.

Cecil was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hattie Lee Moore Chatman; brother, Leroy (Priska) Chatman of Gautier, Mississippi; niece, Yolanda Chatman of Dallas, Texas; and nephews, Marvin Banks of El Paso, Texas, and Patrolman William Banks, Jr. of Moss Point, Mississippi. He is survived by his daughter, LaShanna Lee Chatman of Dallas, Texas; brothers, James (Cleo) Chatman of Gig Harbor, Washington, Jayson (Susie) Chatman of Gautier, Mississippi, and Morrell (Wanda) Chatman of Moss Point, Mississippi; sisters, Ruth (Jimmie) Spillers, Lula Chatman, Audrey Chatman Banks and Minnie Chatman, all of Moss Point, Mississippi, Melva Chatman of Pascagoula, Mississippi, Margaret (Carl) Miller of Dallas, Texas, and Zenobia (Lionel) Staplefoote of Jacksonville, Florida; aunt, Carrie Lee Moore of Mobile, Alabama; uncle, Henry Harris of Moss Point, Mississippi, God brother, Charles Lonnie Molden of Moss Point, Mississippi; God sister, Onecko Mann Matthews of Kennesaw, Georgia; special cousin and friend, Earl Crear of Moss Point, Mississippi; special friends, Michael Knowles of Moss Point, Mississippi, Larry Bell and Kenny Millender, both of Gautier, Mississippi; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Home going services will be held on Friday, May 22, 2015 at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church, 5425 Grierson Street, Moss Point, Mississippi ( Visitation will be from 9:00-9:45 a.m. The funeral will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Biloxi National Cemetery, Veteran Boulevard, Biloxi, Mississippi.
